Job Overview

Gympie Regional Council is seeking a skilled Water and Sewerage Team Member to join our Water & Sewerage Team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining the water supply and sewerage network for the Water and Sewerage Network section.

The Team Member Water and Sewerage Level 5 will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of network maintenance activities of the Water and Sewerage Section.

The Section is responsible for effective and efficient maintenance of the drinking water supply and sewerage schemes to ensure we meet our commitment to our customers and meet our compliance objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake a broad range of tasks including operation of medium complexity plant, vehicles, equipment, and tools in a competent, proficient, and safe manner.
  • Previous experience with water meter maintenance/replacement and sewer jetter CCTV experience.
  • Maintain harmony within a team and foster good working relationships with all council employees and members of the public.
  • Work under limited supervision to assist in the maintenance of the water supply network with a focus on water quality, hygiene, regulatory compliance, and public health.
  • Work under limited supervision to assist in the maintenance of the sewerage network with a focus on environmental protection, regulatory compliance, and public safety.
  • Collect data and information, e.g., related to flow rates and pressure levels in water mains.
  • Identify new ways to improve work practices in accordance with Council's continuous improvement commitment.
  • Communicate respectfully and effectively with members of the public, management, and other team members.
  • Participate in the on-call roster as required.

Requirements:

  • Working in a safe manner in accordance with Council's overarching Safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform labouring tasks and operation of plant and equipment in a safe, competent, efficient, and timely manner to deliver works programs of the Water and Sewerage Section to a quality standard.
