Submarine Sustainment Manager

The role of Submarine Sustainment Manager is critical in ensuring the effective delivery of asset management activities across Collins Class Submarine (CCSM) sustainment. As a key member of the Platform Systems Sustainment team, you will be accountable for the end-to-end delivery of sustainment products and support functions for the Collins Submarine Program (CSMP), within the Naval Shipbuilding & Sustainment Group (NSSG).

About the Role

This position supports the availability and reliability of CCSM. You will work at HMAS Stirling, WA, reporting to the Platform Systems Sustainment Manager. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and leading a team of System Asset Managers.
  • Planning, scheduling, prioritisation and assessment of Platform System Sustainment products from concept to closure.
  • Identifying, tracking and resolving risks and sustainment issues arising from reports and Root Cause Analyses.
  • Overseeing configuration baseline changes.
  • Representing Platform System Sustainment at key governance and advisory forums.
Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Product Management & Delivery: Ensure deliverables meet cost, schedule and quality requirements.

- Risk & Issue Management: Identify, track and resolve risks and sustainment issues arising from reports and Root Cause Analyses.

- Configuration Management: Oversee configuration baseline changes.

- Governance & Representation: Represent Platform System Sustainment at key governance and advisory forums.

- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor and manage APS staff within Platform System Sustainment.

- Resource & Financial Management: Prepare budget forecasts, monitor expenditure, and conduct cost-benefit analyses for sustainment activities.

- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Defence, ASC, industry partners and other agencies.
