Job Description

Role Summary

The Victorian Government is seeking a highly skilled and experienced education professional to fill the role of Leading Teacher: Learning Community Leader. This position is responsible for improving the skill, knowledge, and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and enhancing the curriculum program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and lead a team of staff to improve teaching and learning practices
  • Develop and implement high-impact teaching strategies that respond to student learning needs
  • Monitor and assess student learning at a class, cohort, or whole-school level and use data to inform teaching practice
  • Support teachers to evaluate the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth
  • Model behaviors and attitudes consistent with Department values and contribute to whole-school professional learning

Curriculum Initiatives

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and implementing a range of curriculum initiatives, including:

  • E-Learning across the curriculum
  • Pathways opportunities, including Work Experience and Head Start
  • VET and VCE provision at Year 10
  • High needs transition program for at-risk students in Year 6 moving to Year 7
  • Year 10 transition program to Bendigo Senior Secondary College
  • Breadth of subject and elective offerings across the curriculum across Years 7-10

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum
  • Ability to lead and manage the implementation of school priorities and the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills across the curriculum
  • Exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to model behaviors and attitudes consistent with Department values
