Job Description

This role requires a team-oriented and flexible individual who actively seeks to assist and learn from peers. The successful candidate will possess sound basic communication skills, both oral and written, and demonstrate a strong interest in electronic repair troubleshooting methodology. They will be willing to work on a range of activities and undertake domestic travel to assist on jobs and learn. A working knowledge of PC applications (MS Word, Excel & Power Point) is required to provide information summaries as needed.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist Field Service Engineers in meeting daily service repair needs and driving customer satisfaction.
  2. Assist Field Service Engineers with repairs and maintains equipment in the field, also assists with equipment installation.
  3. Document all inspections, maintenance, repair work, and submit paperwork in a timely fashion under supervision.
  4. Order, install, and return parts, and manage repair parts cycle time under supervision.
  5. Assist Field Service Engineers with ensuring that tools and test equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
  6. Assist Field Service Engineers in assessing product/equipment performance based on field support data.
  7. Participate in site surveys, pilot program service activities, attend meetings, and assist in preparing exclusive reports.
  8. Maintain professional communication proficiency, both oral and written.
  9. Establish and maintain a close relationship with Field Service Engineers to continuously learn and support the needs of the customer.
  10. Exercise every available measure to control and minimize costs – Overtime control, flights and travel expenditures, tools and consumables procurement where applicable.
  11. Comply with and ensure department compliance with Company health, safety, and environmental policies.
  12. Perform tasks independently once assessed as competent and safe to do so.
  13. Other duties as required.
The Individual

We are seeking an individual with the following skills and experience:

  1. Enrolled in Certificate III in Electrical Machine Repair or an equivalent course aligned to Smiths Detection Australia's service organisation.
  2. No experience required. Some previous formal paid or voluntary work experience is desirable.
  3. Good communication skills and a strong orientation for customer focus and teamwork are essential.
  4. Self-motivated, reliable, and accountable individual.
  5. Clean drivers licence.
  6. Ability to acquire relevant security clearance and industry-related licences when possible/applicable.
