Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Youth Justice Team as an Aboriginal Case Manager. You will work with young people who are appearing before or have been sentenced by the Children's Court, providing case management and support services to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

You will be responsible for conducting assessments, implementing and reviewing case plans, and monitoring progress. You will also advocate for the needs of Aboriginal young people, ensuring they receive culturally sensitive support.

About the Role

In this role, you will:

  • Work with young people at risk of entering the youth justice system
  • Provide case management and support services to empower young people to achieve their aspirations
  • Develop and implement tailored case plans that address the unique needs of each individual
  • Monitor progress and make adjustments as needed to optimize outcomes
  • Advocate for the needs of Aboriginal young people, promoting culturally safe practices
Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with members of the Victorian Aboriginal Youth community
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal youth Community, including current issues and self-determination principles
  • An understanding of the youth justice system, including the drivers of Aboriginal over-representation and relevant legislation
  • An understanding of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and associated policies and guidelines
  • An understanding of case management principles and the ability to apply a range of assessment and interventions relevant to the age, gender, developmental stage, and cultural background of the young person
