As a vital member of our organization, you will contribute significantly to enhancing the lives of individuals within the community by addressing their specific needs through our Queensland Community Support Scheme (QCSS). Your role will focus on adopting a client-centered methodology, empowering clients to achieve their personal objectives and meet their support requirements.
Your responsibilities will involve assisting QCSS clients residing in the Gold Coast South region. Since support will be provided in clients' homes, a readiness to travel is essential. The ideal candidate will be situated in proximity to areas such as Burleigh Heads, Surfers Paradise, and Palm Beach.
One of the clients you will assist is an elderly male of Ethiopian descent, who seeks a Support Worker to provide domestic assistance, including support with his passion for preparing Ethiopian cuisine.
This is a casual role that offers adaptable working hours to fit your lifestyle, including options for school hours if necessary. All work will occur between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate clients in enhancing their independence in line with their identified needs and aspirations, which includes:
In-home support:
- Light domestic assistance and housekeeping
- Meal preparation support
- Skill enhancement
- Personal care services
Community engagement support:
- Social interaction and connection
- Assistance with shopping
- Help clients to foster their independence according to their specific needs and goals
- Build rapport and collaborate effectively with clients and their families
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability, or a related field) is mandatory
- Valid Australian Driver's Licence and ownership of a registered vehicle
- Proven ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds
- A Blue Card is necessary
- Strong organizational skills, hygiene practices, and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships
- A current First Aid and CPR Certificate (must be obtained prior to employment)

Candidates will be required to pass all state-based probity checks, including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check.
To be eligible for a position at Life Without Barriers, candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or possess a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. Evidence of vaccination status will be required during the recruitment process.
