Job Description:

We are seeking a seasoned environmental consultant to lead our team in delivering high-quality environmental assessments and approvals across various sectors. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of WA and Commonwealth environmental legislation, planning pathways, and approval processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of complex environmental projects, ensuring timely completion and exceeding client expectations
  • Interpret environmental regulations, policies, and guidelines to design tailored strategies for project success
  • Negotiate with state and federal regulators to ensure seamless project approvals and positive outcomes
  • BUILD strong relationships with clients through clear communication, proactive support, and exceptional service
  • Prepare comprehensive approvals documentation meeting client and regulator requirements
  • MANAGE project timelines, budgets, and deliverables with precision and accountability
  • CONTRIBUTE to business development efforts, identifying opportunities, writing bids, and supporting strategic growth

Requirements:

  • At least 8 years' experience in environmental assessments and approvals in WA, preferably in a consulting environment
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in environmental science, planning, natural resource management, or a related field
  • Strong working knowledge of WA and Commonwealth environmental legislation, planning pathways, and approval processes
  • Proven ability to lead (or direct) and deliver small to medium projects independently, with experience coordinating tasks, subconsultants, timelines, and budgets
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – with the ability to tailor your message for technical and non-technical audiences
  • High-quality report writing skills, and pride in delivering clear, accurate, and professional documentation
  • Strong client relationship skills, built through trust, responsiveness, and delivery of quality outcomes
  • Ability to juggle competing priorities, manage project deadlines and budgets, and remain focused under pressure
  • A positive, proactive approach, with a commitment to teamwork, continual learning, and mentoring others
