About the Role

The Director of Honours and Awards is a key leadership position within the Australian Public Service (APS) Defence, responsible for administering recognition for excellence, achievement, or meritorious service and contributions to current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force members, and APS Defence employees.

The successful candidate will lead a high-performing team that governs the administration of the Australian Honours and Awards System, including the Defence Commendation Scheme. They will maintain a strong professional network with central agencies and key stakeholders to ensure the effective recognition of personal and professional achievements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team that administers recognition for excellence, achievement, or meritorious service and contributions to current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force members, and APS Defence employees.
  • Maintain a strong professional network with central agencies and key stakeholders to govern administration of the Australian Honours and Awards System.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote the Defence Commendation Scheme and other recognition programs.
  • Collaborate with other teams to achieve quality outcomes and ensure the effective recognition of personal and professional achievements.
