About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Emergency Officer to join our team at Kestrel Coal, a leading underground coking coal mine in Central Queensland. As an integral member of our Health, Safety, and Training (HST) team, you will be responsible for providing emergency first response to all incidents on site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond quickly and effectively to medical emergencies and incidents involving personnel at Kestrel Mine.
  • Provide patient care and triage, as well as conduct daily checks on ambulance equipment and ensure all items are stocked and compliant.
  • Perform daily pre-start checks on the ambulance and Kestrel emergency vehicle, clean interiors and exteriors, and refuel as needed.
  • Conduct handovers with the incoming Officer Medical Emergency for the QH28 register, safe/vehicle keys, and shift reports.
  • Inspect AEDs, first aid kits, eyewash stations, and Diphoterine, restock and replace as necessary.
  • Conduct inventory counts on medical emergency equipment, obtain quotes, raise purchase orders, and restock upon receipt.
  • Assist in the development and training of new Officers Medical Emergency by providing on-the-job training.
  • Lead projects related to emergency care as directed, such as updating procedures, training materials, and patient care records.
Requirements
  • Nationally accredited qualification in Paramedicine or Nursing.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Competency in HTPAT005 – Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing.
  • A current Queensland manual C Class driver's license.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role in a mining or heavy industry environment.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to read, analyse and report information effectively.
  • Ability to resolve problems with a level of decision making.
  • Strong software skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
