Senior Subcontract Manager - A Key Leadership Role
Job DescriptionThe Senior Subcontract Manager is a critical leadership position within our organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a major subcontract domain and ensuring the delivery of complex platform systems.
This role requires exceptional leadership skills, including the ability to direct all aspects of performance as the Control Account Manager, tracking and reporting on performance, risk, and quality against targets.
Additionally, the Senior Subcontract Manager will oversee a team of 5-7 professionals, focusing on their professional development and ensuring employee welfare.
Direct engagement with suppliers, including managing directors, will be required to resolve performance concerns and mitigate risks.
The role also involves presenting and negotiating with stakeholders regarding subcontract approvals and performance issues.
Finally, the Senior Subcontract Manager will build and maintain cross-functional relationships with all stakeholders to ensure timely and effective decision-making.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Prior defence sector procurement and contract management experience is highly advantageous.
- A degree qualification in engineering or commercial discipline, along with a professional procurement qualification, will be highly regarded.
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (MCIPS) will be highly regarded.
- Strong commercial skills and acumen, with proven capability in contract negotiations in Defence or related industries, are essential.
- Well-developed leadership experience, either through managing a team or leading complex projects, is necessary.
- Ability to negotiate with and influence internal and/or external stakeholders in a way that generates business benefit while maintaining key relationships.
