Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mining Engineer to lead the development of a new underground copper mine in Northern Queensland. The successful candidate will have a strong background in underground metalliferous mining and will be responsible for ensuring the stability and efficiency of the mine's operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver short-term planning and optimize mine design and budgets.
  • Ensure safety requirements are met in engineering designs and plans.
  • Lead and mentor a small engineering team.
  • Supervise daily operations in the engineering department.
  • Manage and develop budgets for projects and operations.
  • Oversee mine establishment works, including engineering and ventilation design.
  • Conduct project work, including shaft excavation and pumping.
  • Track rapid development and oversee support activities.
  • Ensure environmental compliance and minimize mining impacts.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors to enhance productivity and safety.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mining Engineering.
  • 5+ years of senior experience in underground metalliferous mining.
  • In-depth knowledge of mining processes, equipment, and technologies.
  • Proven leadership and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in contractor management.
  • Strong financial acumen with budget management and operational optimization.
  • Ability to conduct feasibility studies and economic analyses.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Deswik, and VentSim.
  • Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
