Principal Newbuilding Surveyor

DNV Maritime Region Southeast Asia, Pacific & India is seeking a highly skilled Principal Newbuilding Surveyor to join our Hobart office on a full-time basis. As a key member of our team, you will provide class services to shipyards and certify materials and components.

• Conduct surveys of vessels during the new construction stage.
• Manage projects involving new building vessels.
• Certify materials and components manufactured by local Hobart industries.
• Maintain excellent customer relationships with local clients.
• Provide technical assistance as needed.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with DNV rules, regulations, and quality requirements.
• Protect client confidentiality and maintain the integrity of DNV.
• Communicate important information to line management promptly.
• Supervise the work of others and ensure efficient and economic execution.
• Act as a technical resource for customer inquiries.
• Support the 'Be Well' program and promote physical and mental wellbeing.

• Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a relevant field.
• Experience as a project manager on complex vessels.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Technical competencies: strong understanding of class, statutory surveyor work, and associated responsibilities.
• Behavioral competencies: team player with the ability to work independently.
• Flexibility in traveling is required.
• Physical abilities necessary to perform regular job functions.
• Fluent in English (speaking and writing).
