As a Practice Manager, you'll play a key role in leading a dynamic team of legal officers and support staff. Your responsibilities will include overseeing daily operations, managing workloads, and coordinating staff leave arrangements.
You'll be responsible for mentoring and developing your team members, handling a caseload of complex matters, and representing the organization at court events. This is a 12-month opportunity with the possibility of extension.
The organization is a vital part of Queensland's justice system, representing the State in prosecuting criminal matters across courts including the High Court of Australia, the Supreme Court, and the District Court. Our work addresses complex and sensitive legal matters, ensuring justice is upheld with professionalism and integrity.
About Your OpportunityThis is a 12-month opportunity within the organization with a possibility of extension. As a Practice Manager, you'll have the chance to make a genuine difference in the community while engaging with some of the state's most pressing legal matters.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure timely delivery of commitments, including the presentation of indictments.
- Monitor and report on team performance and outputs, resolving organizational issues as they arise.
- Oversee file allocations and circuit responsibilities, ensuring efficient workflow management.
- Establish, maintain, and improve systems and processes to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Provide leadership, motivation, and mentorship to staff, while contributing to the development and delivery of targeted training programs for legal and support staff.
- Build and maintain strong networks with internal and external stakeholders, consulting and negotiating to achieve positive outcomes.
- Manage a caseload of complex matters and attend court events as required.
- Drives accountability and outcomes - Demonstrates criminal litigation experience, strong advocacy skills in Magistrates and/or higher courts, and the ability to manage and motivate staff while identifying professional development opportunities.
- Leads strategically - Contributes to organizational initiatives and reviews and builds productive partnerships through effective consultation, negotiation, and communication.
- Builds enduring relationships - Possesses excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with diverse stakeholders and address the needs of victims of crime with care and professionalism.
- Fosters a healthy and inclusive workplace - Manages team operations effectively, reports on performance data, and contributes to state-wide initiatives and reviews.
- Pursues continuous growth - Maintains a commitment to professional and ethical standards, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
