Senior Correctional Officer Job Description

The Senior Correctional Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining the safety and well-being of staff and inmates within a designated area.

This position involves overseeing daily activities, contributing to dynamic and static security measures, and ensuring the containment and oversight of inmate/offender activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Utilize proven custodial experience and knowledge to meet the demands of this role efficiently and effectively.
  • Represent the organization in an honest, ethical, and professional manner, leading by example.
  • Resilience, motivation, and a positive attitude are essential qualities for success in this role.

Essential Requirements:
  • A current Certificate III in Correctional Practice or relevant custodial experience.
  • The ability to drive official vehicles and hold an appropriate level of Driver's License.
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster as required.
  • Maintenance of proficiency in authorized instruments of restraint.

Key Knowledge and Experience:
  • Knowledge of emergency and riot procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of reception and discharge procedures, warrants, and bails.
