This role plays a vital part in enhancing trust and understanding between the police service and local communities, with special emphasis on First Nations groups.
Key Responsibilities:- Strengthen relationships between the community and the Queensland Police Service by facilitating effective communication and promoting cultural awareness.
- Offer expert advice on First Nations customs and protocols to ensure culturally appropriate interactions with community members.
- Collaborate with QPS personnel to identify opportunities for community engagement and develop crime prevention strategies that respect indigenous cultures.
- Provide support to First Nations community members seeking access to policing services and offer guidance to QPS officers on referrals to other community organizations as needed.
- Hold a valid Queensland driver's license or be able to obtain one.
- Wear a designated uniform and adhere to the QPS dress code.
- Work flexible hours, including weekends and shifts, to attend local events and gatherings as required.
Working Conditions: The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment requiring strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and attention to detail. A 'C' class driver's license is highly desirable but not essential.
