Job Title: Laboratory Operations Manager

Are you a leader with experience in managing laboratory operations? Do you have a strong background in quality control and assurance? We are seeking an experienced laboratory operations manager to lead our coal testing laboratory at Carmichael Mine.


The Role:

  • Assist the Senior Site Executive in monitoring and managing compliance with the Queensland Coal Mining Health and Safety Act.
  • Report hazards, inspections, and safe acts observations.
  • Conduct incident investigations related to the onsite laboratory to identify root causes and adjust work practices accordingly.
  • Ensure effective communication with internal and external customers.
  • Promote a workplace free from discrimination, where everyone is included and treated with respect.
  • Manage employee leave.
  • Complete all activities and reporting in accordance with the monthly reporting schedule.
  • Implement effective document control within the department.
  • Maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including employees, contractors, customers, suppliers, government agencies, neighbors, and the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operate laboratory equipment and supervise a team of laboratory technicians.
  2. Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
  3. Monitor and report on laboratory performance metrics.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.

Requirements:

  • RII competencies for light vehicle and laboratory equipment S1,2&3 G2.
  • Previous experience operating onsite laboratories.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including basic spreadsheet skills.
  • Knowledge of writing and mathematical/analytical principles.
  • Proficient in all aspects of laboratory operations.
