Cairns City, Queensland, Australia John Holland Full time

About John Holland

We are a leading infrastructure provider transforming lives through innovative and sustainable solutions. Our expertise spans the entire project lifecycle, from concept to completion.

Our purpose is simple: we deliver projects that benefit our customers, employees, and communities. We achieve this by leveraging our deep experience, capability, and genuine care for creating better lives.

We thrive on rising to the challenge of delivering iconic projects like the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project in Far North Queensland. This groundbreaking initiative involves converting a disused gold mine into a pumped storage hydroelectric power generation facility.

The project features the conversion of two existing mine pits into reservoirs, with significant underground infrastructure being built to support the transfer of water between upper and lower reservoirs. This innovative approach will generate power during peak periods and return water to the upper reservoir during off-peak periods.

This project has received funding from ARENA as part of its Advancing Renewables Program. It's a game-changer for the clean energy industry worldwide, offering an entirely new approach to large-scale energy storage.

We're recruiting a highly skilled Site Engineer with FRP experience to join our team and help deliver this iconic project.

About the Role

You'll be working on a 14/7 FIFO roster, coordinating on-site engineering functions to achieve time and budget objectives. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with the Projects Engineering and Supervisory team to ensure timely delivery of program requirements.
  • Managing project Quality Systems, including inspections, checklists, documentation, and record keeping.
  • Planning & Programming.
  • Assisting with procurement & supplier management.
  • Ensuring compliance with technical specifications, applicable legislation, approvals, and standards while focusing on risk management.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • A recognized degree in Engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • Experience working with FRP installations.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in large multi-faceted projects.
  • Demonstrated commercial experience, including planning and reporting on progress, cost, and risk.
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to health and safety.

What We Offer

We provide a competitive salary, estimated at AU$120,000 - AU$180,000 per annum, depending on your experience and qualifications. Additionally, you'll enjoy great leave benefits, career progression opportunities, and our commitment to inclusion and diversity. We strive to create a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported.
