Job Title: Senior Professional for Alcohol and Substance Misuse Services

The Senior Professional (Alcohol and Other Drugs) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality child protection services. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Providing expert advice to senior practitioners, managers, and stakeholders on alcohol and other drugs, within the context of complex practice matters.
  2. Analysing performance data to identify trends, issues, and systemic concerns, with a focus on service delivery and client outcomes.
  3. Leading the development of capabilities across the state, focusing on areas related to alcohol and other drugs, and facilitating learning forums.
  4. Offering strategic guidance, coaching, and mentoring to senior practitioners and colleagues, with a focus on improving casework quality and outcomes for children and young people.
  5. Implementing quality assurance mechanisms to support monitoring and continuous improvement of services to children, young people, families, and carers, with a focus on alcohol and other drugs.
  6. Developing enduring partnerships to support service delivery, enhance cross-sectoral participation, training, and development, and statewide coordination of child protection services.
  7. Establishing and maintaining effective systems, practices, and standards to ensure coordination and delivery of services.
  8. Managing multiple projects as part of ongoing reform and renewal efforts.
  9. Contribution to implementing the Strengthening Families Protecting Children Framework for Practice, with a focus on developing staff capability in strength-based practice and appreciative inquiry to assist in delivering quality advice and services about alcohol and other drugs and their impacts in the child protection context.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Expertise in alcohol and other drugs, child protection, and related fields.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Leadership and management experience, with ability to develop and facilitate learning forums.
  • Coaching and mentoring skills, with ability to provide strategic guidance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, build strong relationships, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Experience with quality assurance mechanisms, data analysis, and performance measurement.
