Behaviour Support Specialist

The Behaviour Support Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting Managers and Service Coordinators in meeting their obligations with timely reporting of restrictive practices to the regulatory body.

This position will be instrumental in supporting staff to understand practices in supporting participants and ensuring that behaviour support plans are communicated to and understood by staff, so they can be implemented effectively.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining compliance with all aspects of restrictive practices.
  • Leading a focus group committed to continuous improvement of delivery, continuity, and quality of services.
  • Completing monthly reporting for restrictive practices through the Quality and Safeguard Commission.
  • Monitoring restrictive practice data base system (RIDS) and approving/rejecting behaviour support plans developed by behaviour support practitioners based on legislative requirements.
  • Staying abreast of changes in regulation guidelines from the NDIS quality safeguards commission and communicating these to the relevant stakeholders.

This role is crucial in supporting staff to understand policies, practices, and legislation in supporting participants with behaviours of concern and ensuring that behaviour support plans are understood by staff so they can be implemented appropriately.
