Financial Reporting Leadership Opportunity

MARS Recruitment is proud to partner with a global financial services organisation in the search for an accomplished and technically proficient Director of Financial Reporting.

The successful candidate will bring extensive expertise in statutory reporting, regulatory compliance, and technical accounting within the financial services sector. Advanced knowledge of US GAAP and AIFRS is required to meet external reporting requirements. This role encompasses significant involvement in finance projects, including tax compliance, preparation of board papers, and drafting technical accounting papers.

Candidates must demonstrate proven experience managing a small team, exceptional technical accounting skills, and a strong background in the financial services industry. In addition to a competitive remuneration package, this opportunity includes a performance and completion bonus.

Responsibilities:
  • Reporting and Compliance: Prepare and deliver financial information for statutory and regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance with AIFRS, US GAAP, and LAGIC.
  • Finance Function Oversight: Oversee key finance functions, including the financial statement close process, tax compliance, and submissions such as transfer pricing, FBT, and corporate income tax returns.
  • Regulatory Standard Implementation: Lead the implementation of new accounting and regulatory standards, ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Accuracy and Compliance: Maintain accuracy, transparency, and compliance with all applicable accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Risk Management: Identify and address financial risks while leveraging opportunities through proactive strategies.
  • Financial Evaluations: Conduct financial evaluations for potential acquisitions or partnerships, including leading
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring professional growth.
Requirements:
  • Qualification: CA, CPA, or ACCA qualification required.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in financial services.
  • Insurance Background: Insurance experience highly regarded.
  • Technical Accounting Expertise: Proven expertise in technical accounting.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, APRA prudential regulations, and Australian taxation. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.

The estimated salary for this position is AU$180,000 - AU$220,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. Please note that only Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents will be considered at this time.
