About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Analyst/Manager Credit Model Validation to join our team at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. As a key member of our Risk Management team, you will be responsible for performing independent validation activities for models and quantitative tools developed for IRB, IFRS9, and stress testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure models follow sound methodologies and advanced statistical techniques, including regression techniques, time series analysis, and macroeconomic modeling, using Python, R, and SQL.
  • Represent the Model Risk & Validation team at project advisory groups and coordinate with other leaders in the model risk & validation team.
  • Effectively present the results of validation work and business implications to internal working groups and technical forums.
  • Proactively address and respond to developer, audit, and regulatory queries and/or issues pertaining to models.
  • Maintain sound relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Evaluate model implementation challenges, including assessment of the business impact of new or updated models on risk measures or processes.
  • Maintain the Group Model Register.
  • Review the Fit-for-purpose validation.
Requirements
  • Established model development or validation experience.
  • Credit risk modeling experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong programming skills in R, Python, and SQL, and manipulation of large and complex datasets.
  • A solid foundation in applying advanced mathematical and statistical techniques is essential.
  • Solid time management and prioritization skills; and ability to work under guidance.
  • Experience with the Basel regulatory standards and relevant APRA regulations regarding credit risk is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication, including ability to interpret and report complex material and make sound recommendations to a range of stakeholders.
  • Tertiary qualifications, with above-average academic achievements, in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, econometrics, actuarial science, engineering, and data science.
