Environmental Planning Officer

Seeking an Environmental Planning professional to deliver projects with a focus on biodiversity, environmental management, and policy development.

**Job Summary:**

  • Expert knowledge in biodiversity assessment, management, and planning including addressing complex environmental issues.
  • Minimum degree level qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Natural Resource Management or equivalent.

**About the Role:**

  • The position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
  • Tweed Shire Council conducts pre-employment assessments as part of its recruitment process.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Manage projects and their associated budgets.
  • Engage and supervise staff, consultants, and contractors.
  • Conduct field surveys, environmental assessments, and prepare ecological restoration and management plans.
  • Develop high-level written and oral communications skills.
  • Hold a current Vehicle Licence - Car.

**Selection Criteria:

  • Minimum degree level qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Natural Resource Management or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in environmental policy development including LEP and DCP preparation.
  • Well-developed knowledge of local flora and fauna.
  • Ability to manage projects and their associated budgets.
  • Capacity to engage and supervise staff, consultants, and contractors.
  • Practical experience in field surveys, environmental assessments, and plan preparation.
  • High-level written and oral communications skills.
  • Current Vehicle Licence - Car.
