Job Opportunity: Internal Controls Specialist
We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as an Internal Controls Specialist. This key role involves building and implementing an internal controls framework for business units.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in internal controls, with experience working within complex environments. They will be responsible for promoting risk awareness, ensuring consistency of internal control practices, and implementing an effective control framework across business units.
This role requires leading the timely remediation of identified control deficiencies or improvements required, as well as developing and delivering controls training across business units.
In addition, this individual will support the launch and running of the Business Unit Risk Committee, collaborate with partners on overall IT governance program, IT risk assessments, and IT control implementation, and lead IT system risk and scoping analysis, and SOC1 reports review processes.
After achieving SOX compliance, this person will lead and maintain an effective Control Self-Assessment process across business units, including reporting results to Global Internal Audit, leading remediation of identified deficiencies, maintaining control narratives and testing procedures.
This role also involves preparing audit committee papers, identifying and agreeing best practice using guidance and templates from Group Internal Audit function, delivering ongoing internal control training, sharing experience and knowledge by providing internal controls guidance to wider internal teams, and managing local external auditors' control procedures testing and Global Internal Audit preparation.
To succeed in this position, you will need proven relationship management and influencing skills, sound organizational and management skills, used to dealing with ambiguity, ability to make decisions with imperfect information, knowledge of operational risk management principles, deep understanding of internal control frameworks, and understanding of IT systems risk management and controls testing and SOC1 review.
Requirements include a Bachelor of Commerce or related business degree, CA/CPA/ACCA/CIA/CISA or other equivalent accreditation, 3-5 years' experience in Internal or External Audit or similar role, large businesses experience, understanding of ERP systems, good business knowledge and working experience in areas of process improvements and/or accounting, strong written and verbal communication skills, worked with or understands Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, CAAT experience, vocational qualifications, and working knowledge of information technology (COBIT), project management.
