Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Principal Zoologist to lead our team in delivering high-quality zoological projects. The role will require the candidate to have a strong background in fauna assessments, monitoring, and project management.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, mentoring, coaching, and contributing to the career development of the Zoology team. They will also be required to grow the Zoology team through recruitment efforts, lead and coordinate personnel contributing to zoological scopes of work, and project manage individual projects for fauna assessments, monitoring, and related scopes of work.

In addition to these responsibilities, the candidate will be expected to manage relevant sub-consultants, provide technical reporting, review assessment, monitoring, and related reports, and contribute to technical delivery of zoological projects through field participation, data management, GIS/mapping, and other means.

The remuneration package for this role will be commensurate with experience level and will include incentive bonuses.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, the candidate must possess a tertiary qualification in zoology, ecology, biological science, environmental science, or equivalent. They must also demonstrate familiarity with current Technical Guidance for fauna surveys, have a proven track record in an environmental consulting team, and be able to lead fauna assessments and monitoring programs independently.

The successful candidate will also need to be willing to travel for some field assessments, including to remote locations, have familiarity with the fauna of Western Australia in various bioregions, and experience in the preparation of technical biological assessment reports.

They must also have excellent written communication skills, a current Western Australian C-class driver's licence, and take pride in delivering high-quality outputs.
