Perioperative Scrub Specialist

This role involves working as a vital member of the healthcare team, ensuring effective communication and confirming patient identification, consent and performing time out as per policy requirements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all instruments for procedures are available and sterile, scrubbing in accordance to ACORN standards and preparing surgical setup immediately prior to commencement of procedure. They will also perform surgical count with circulating nurse as per ACORN standards, anticipate needs of the surgeon, ensure aseptic technique is adhered to and adhere to safety requirements to prevent injury to patients and staff.

Additionally, they will ensure legal documentation is complete, waste/disposables are handled in the correct manner, confirm patient identification, valid consent, allergies and fasting status.

Specialising in robotics systems in Orthopaedic surgery, specifically Stryker MAKO and Zimmer Biomet ROSA technology.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Endorsed Enrolled Nurse or Registered Nurse with perioperative scrub experience
  • Perioperative experience in scrub/scout roles, particularly in orthopaedics
  • Full-time or permanent part-time availability; working rights for Australia
