Corporate Lawyer

We are seeking a highly skilled Corporate Lawyer to join our team at Australia Post. As a trusted advisor, you will play a critical role in managing and influencing stakeholders on a range of real estate and general advisory matters.

• Negotiate and draft sale, acquisition, and leasing agreements for significant industrial sites
• Provide expert advice on property portfolio management, including industrial and retail leasing
• Advise on a broad range of general real estate matters, including environmental, heritage, and construction
• Draft and negotiate commercial agreements that achieve business objectives and allocate risk in accordance with risk appetite
• Provide pragmatic legal support to stakeholders to manage their legal obligations in accordance with Australia Post's risk appetite and regulatory framework
• Assist the enterprise to meet its strategic objectives and priorities
• Provide independent, strategically focused legal advice that adds value for Australia Post
• Be a team player, support peers, and promote the value and reputation of Group Legal
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and new legislation, and incorporate these changes into legal advice
• Advocate for strong corporate ethics and governance
• Develop and maintain standard form legal documentation, resources, and toolkits
• Optimize the value and quality of legal services from external legal resources
• Assist in training the business to understand its legal rights and compliance obligations
• Proactively look for opportunities to simplify the way we deliver legal services to the enterprise

• At least 5 years post-admission experience, having worked at a top-tier firm or having relevant in-house experience
• An unrestricted Australian practicing certificate
• Broad experience across general real estate matters
• Strong leasing (commercial and retail) experience
• Strong general commercial advisory experience
• Great problem-solving skills and the ability to generate pragmatic, commercially focused solutions
• Excellent drafting and communication skills
• The ability to build strong relationships and effectively influence internal and external stakeholders
• A proactive, positive attitude
