Behaviour Support Leadership Position

As a key member of our Behaviour Support team, the Team Lead will play a vital role in supporting and mentoring a small team of Behaviour Support Practitioners to ensure a quality service is delivered to National Disability Insurance Scheme participants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guiding and coaching behaviour support practitioners and reviewing positive behaviour support plans
  • Encouraging a team-oriented approach to evaluation of service delivery
  • Monitoring team goals and objectives throughout the year and participating in annual performance reviews
  • Working closely with the team to meet output targets while ensuring best practice and excellent stakeholder relationships
  • Developing partnerships with service providers, community agencies, and government bodies to achieve the best outcomes for participants
  • Providing professional information and advice to people with disability, families, staff, and managers regarding evidence-based approaches to reduce the impact of challenging behaviour

Qualifications Required

  • A completed degree qualification (or higher) in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or similar
  • Endorsed or able to be endorsed as a proficient practitioner
  • Experience mentoring Behaviour Support Practitioners or leadership/management experience in the human services sector, including disability, health, family support, or another similar service area
  • An in-depth understanding of good clinical practice and the context in which Behaviour Support is provided
  • Knowledge of contemporary practices and philosophies related to service provision for people with intellectual and/or cognitive disabilities
  • Experience developing positive behaviour support strategies for people with disability or cognitive impairment
  • Strong administration and computer skills, experienced in MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience mentoring Behaviour Support Practitioners or leadership/management experience in the human services sector, including disability, health, family support, or another similar service area
  • An in-depth understanding of good clinical practice and the context in which Behaviour Support is provided
  • Knowledge of contemporary practices and philosophies related to service provision for people with intellectual and/or cognitive disabilities
  • Experience developing positive behaviour support strategies for people with disability or cognitive impairment
