About the Role:
- We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to provide statistical and epidemiological support for intervention-based studies and grant applications.
- The successful candidate will conduct research activities, including surveys, literature reviews, data collection, and recording results using appropriate research methods under the guidance of a research leader.
- Responsibilities also include supporting the dissemination of research outcomes through suitable channels and presenting at conferences and/or workshops.
- The Research Associate will report directly to the Head of the Population Child Health research group and have no direct reports.
Key Qualifications and Skills:
- A PhD in Epidemiology/Statistics or a related discipline is essential, as well as relevant expertise gained from experience, training, or professional accreditation.
- Candidates must be proficient in a range of statistical software, preferably R, SAS, and/or Stata, and possess previous experience working with large data sets.
- A background in designing and evaluating trials is also required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are necessary, along with the capacity to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
- The ideal candidate should demonstrate high-quality academic research capabilities, including study design, implementation, grant writing, and ethics applications, with limited supervision.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge and developments within the field is crucial, as is having a track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
- Familiarity with UNSW's aims, objectives, and values, as well as relevant policies and guidelines, is mandatory.
- A commitment to health and safety responsibilities and attendance at relevant health and safety training sessions is also expected.
