The City of Perth is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to undertake a review and document the City's Local History Collection. As a key member of our City Culture team, you will be responsible for assessing, organizing, and cataloging the collection to determine opportunities for its location, accessibility, and use into the future.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate the City of Perth Local History Collection, ensuring accurate cataloging, classification, and documentation of collection items, addressing any existing backlogs;
- Review digital records and files to map Local History Collection items and consolidate stored information;
- Develop methods for searching stored information about collection items;
- Review other records related to the Collection (e.g., card catalogues) and assess their relevance and reliability in relation to the Collection's operations;
- Develop and document recommendations for procedures relating to the future care and use of the Collection.
- Previous experience working with a local history collection or archives, within a library or other institution;
- Tertiary qualifications recognized by the Australian Library and Information Association and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field;
- Strong knowledge of records management, cataloging, archiving standards and procedures, and conservation techniques;
- Experience using Microsoft suite, collection management systems, databases, and library software systems.
To succeed in this role, you will possess a strong passion for cultural heritage and a commitment to excellence in collection management. You will be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
Eligibility- A right to work in Australia (e.g., a birth certificate, current passport, or current visa);
- A satisfactory National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months).
