About the Role:
This is a unique opportunity for a skilled professional to migrate on-premises SQL databases to Azure SQL, leveraging their expertise in data migration and cloud technology. As an Azure SQL database migration expert, you will be responsible for assessing existing SQL environments, planning and executing migration strategies, configuring Azure SQL settings, and ensuring data integrity throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Migrate SQL databases from on-premise environments to Azure SQL using Azure Data Studio and backup/restore processes.
- Migrate SSRS, SSAS, and SSIS databases to Azure SQL.
- Implement Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and transfer keys to Azure Key Vault.
- Design and implement hybrid environments with applications hosted on Azure and databases remaining on-premise.
- Establish AlwaysOn Availability Groups within and across Azure regions.
- Migrate logins, SQL Jobs, Linked Servers, and configure DB Mail and notifications.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including migration plans and post-migration configurations.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you should have extensive experience working with Azure SQL and its related technologies. Your skills and qualifications include:
- Expert-level knowledge of Azure SQL, SQL Server, and associated tools.
- Familiarity with migration strategies and best practices.
- Experience with Azure Data Studio, Backup/Restore, and Azure Site Recovery.
- Strong understanding of database security, compliance, and data protection.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
