Technical Leadership Role

We are seeking an experienced engineering leader to join our Digital IT team as the Head of Engineering. This is a hands-on technical leadership role that requires guiding, supporting, and enabling engineering teams to deliver high-quality, enterprise-grade applications and integrations.

The successful candidate will oversee cross-functional teams across frontend, backend, and DevOps, ensuring the delivery of scalable and efficient solutions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining technical direction by establishing architecture roadmaps, championing best practices, and aligning with enterprise goals
  • Unblocking and enabling delivery by stepping in to solve complex technical issues, streamlining workflows, and ensuring projects move forward efficiently
  • Driving improvement by introducing tools and processes that reduce manual effort, optimise DevOps practices, and deliver quick wins
  • Building capability by mentoring engineers, growing talent, and fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture
  • Partnering across teams by working closely with Product, Architecture, QA, and business stakeholders to deliver solutions that matter

The ideal candidate will have experience across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and security, and be able to dive into technical problem-solving when needed. They will also possess strong ability to identify inefficiencies, solve delivery blockers, and optimise development practices.

Key skills and qualifications include:

  • Proven success leading cross-functional teams in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Experience delivering enterprise-scale software solutions and driving platform and architecture initiatives
  • Cloud platform expertise (AWS, GCP, Azure) and/or DevOps tooling knowledge highly regarded
