Role Description

This key position is for an experienced technologist to lead the development of innovative food solutions, focusing on sweet and beverage applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, creativity, and a passion for driving commercial success through excellent collaboration and leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop novel finished product formulations incorporating Symrise technologies across various food matrices, including dairy, beverages, confectionery, bakery, and plant-based products.
  • Provide total solutions to customers through creative problem-solving and technical knowledge of development.
  • Directly evaluate new Symrise technologies, finished products, customer bases, and market samples to develop new formulations.
  • Demonstrate innovation in concept brainstorming and generation, developing proactive applications to enhance taste solutions and exhibit new technologies.
  • Evaluate and assess counter types or matches of food products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to select functional raw materials and ingredients, staying updated on new technologies and trends.
  • Conduct presentations for technical visits and act as a key direct technical contact to build stronger partnerships with key customers.
  • Establish regional and global networks to leverage and exchange knowledge for continuous learning and development.
  • Utilize IT systems for project management, record-keeping, application databases, and product information.
  • Manage and review the Standard Library of Flavors for sweet and beverage flavors to support the technical portfolio hub and key customers.
  • Conduct sensory evaluations and identify gaps to maintain optimal portfolios as new developments or tonalities are created.
  • Support the portfolio hub for sample requests and evaluations.
  • Stay abreast of SymScript flavor language and provide training to technical and commercial teams.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree qualification in Food Technology or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in industrial food, ingredients, or flavor industries with a focus on sweet, bakery, confectionery, dairy, and/or beverage-related disciplines.
  • Additional expertise in alcoholic beverages would be preferred.
  • Expertise in dairy and confectionery would be an added advantage.
  • Strong expertise in sensory evaluation, technical knowledge, and application recipe design and creation.
  • Possess good knowledge of recipe ingredients, raw materials, and their function for flavor application.
  • Possess good knowledge of Food Standards Code (FSANZ).
  • Strong passion in food ingredients/flavor portfolios.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suites.
  • A strong team player, independent, driven, and highly agile, accountable, creative, and innovative.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to accept temporary placements in other locations for project/training needs.
