Design Draftsperson Job Description

You will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional quality and design for clients. Your primary responsibility will be to produce accurate and high-quality drawings that support construction teams, sales consultants, and clients throughout the build journey.

Role Overview

You will report directly to the Design Manager and be accountable for preparing planning drawings, working drawings, and final construction sets, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency at every stage. You will work closely with multiple departments, supervisors, and occasionally directly with clients, to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and aligned with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review accurate planning drawings, working drawings, and final construction sets.
  • Review and approve timber framing layouts and structural steel documentation.
  • Collaborate with estimation, selections, and construction teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement of design and construction methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with council requirements, industry standards, and governance bodies.
  • Attend and contribute to client design meetings as required.
Requirements
  • A minimum Diploma qualification in Building Design.
  • At least 3 years' experience in a Drafting role in the housing and construction industry.
  • Preferred experience with ArchiCAD, however not essential.
  • Solid understanding of building specifications, materials, and construction practices.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, with proven time management and organisational skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people.
  • Ability to show initiative.
  • Collaborative working approach.
