COURT SECURITY MANAGER

Position Overview

Ventia is seeking a qualified and seasoned Court Security Manager to oversee operations at the Kalgoorlie Courthouse in Western Australia. This full-time permanent position requires flexibility in working hours due to the nature of court operations.

As a vital member of the Management team, you will report directly to the Assistant Director, providing essential support in ensuring the smooth and effective functioning of court operations while fostering the development of your team.

Your responsibilities will encompass the strategic deployment of personnel across the region and managing the daily performance of the Deputy Court Security Manager and Court & Custody Officers under your supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Court Officials to ensure compliance with contractual obligations
  • Guarantee the availability of adequate resources in Court and Custody areas
  • Conduct inspections and monitor court operations for adherence to regulations
  • Deliver exceptional service while prioritizing the welfare, safety, and security of staff and Persons in Custody (PiC)
  • Verify all warrants in accordance with established procedures
  • Assess and ensure the effectiveness and cleanliness of security systems within Court premises
  • Maintain emergency protocols and ensure staff are informed of their responsibilities
  • Oversee the timely submission of incident reports
  • Establish clear objectives and direction for direct reports
  • Represent Ventia at Court User Group Meetings
  • Contribute positively to a diverse and inclusive workplace, free from discrimination and harassment

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Certificate III in Corrective Practice or a related discipline
  • Qualified in Control and Restraint techniques
  • Senior First Aid & CPR certification or equivalent
  • Ability to interpret legislation, regulations, and correspondence
  • Proficient in computer skills and report writing
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Collaborative management approach with strong relationship-building skills
  • Experience in an escort custody operational setting
  • Strong focus on safety and security
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to remain objective in challenging situations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of drafting clear and concise reports, letters, and emails

Essential Requirements:

  • Australian Permanent Residency or Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Federal Police Check, Criminal History Check, and Working with Children Check
  • Undergo a pre-employment medical assessment, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Desirable: Manual Driving Licence (HR, MR licence or F Extension category preferred for operating passenger vehicles)
  • Willingness to travel as required
  • Ability to maintain a suitable level of fitness for the role

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Total fixed remuneration of $107,431
  • Additional Regional Allowance of $5,943 per annum
  • Paid accommodation for a duration of two years
