Our organization is seeking an accomplished strategic transport planner to create and manage a forward-thinking transport policy.

This pivotal role will involve developing a comprehensive suite of policies and guidelines related to Open Space and Community Infrastructure, focusing on precinct-level guidance versus municipal-wide strategy.

You will work closely with a transport planner and external consultants as needed to craft a policy that promotes contemporary thinking and encourages modal shifts towards more sustainable transportation options. Additionally, you will recognize the importance of accommodating other modes of transport.

Supported by senior management who view this policy document as crucial, you will drive innovation, advocacy, and education for better solutions. Your efforts will culminate in an innovative yet practical document that can be effectively implemented and drive meaningful changes in how people navigate the municipality.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to distill complex data into concise reports that tell a compelling story, engage audiences, and create factually backed narratives.

We are looking for someone who excels at stakeholder engagement, understanding concerns from councillors, community members (including major businesses), internal peers, and external stakeholders. This individual should be able to empathize, educate, or negotiate as required.

This fixed-term contract position is available for 18 months, with scope to continue in the role as the project transitions from strategy to implementation.
