Leadership Opportunity

Monash Health is seeking a Clinical Nurse/Midwife Consultant to join our Emergency Department and play a key leadership role in the Mental Health and Alcohol & Other Drugs Response Model of Care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical assessment, consultation, and treatment for patients presenting with mental health, AOD and psychosocial needs.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and coordination of the ED Mental Health & AOD Response Model of Care, including short stay and outreach services.
  • Offer clinical supervision, guidance and mentoring to nursing and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Foster strong, collaborative relationships with ED staff, Emergency Psychiatric Services, allied health, peer workers and external partners.
  • Oversee patient flow, service capacity, and safe care delivery, ensuring adherence to best practice and relevant legislation.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives, service evaluation and professional development across the team.
About You

As a highly skilled and motivated nurse leader, you have a strong background in mental health nursing and crisis care.

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing (or equivalent).
  • Minimum five years' experience in leadership and clinical practice in mental health, AOD, or emergency settings.
  • Strong leadership, communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Current Victorian Driver's Licence.
  • Additional training or experience in AOD/dual diagnosis.
