Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate to join our Financing & Advisory Group in Sydney, Australia. The successful candidate will support the origination and execution of structured finance transactions, particularly in the Mining, Metals, and related industries sectors.

The Associate will work closely with other business lines within Financing & Advisory, including Infrastructure, Digital, Energy, and Real Estate. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and maintaining financial models for advisory mandates, including creating and running financial scenarios and sensitivities.
  • Interrogating financial models for financing mandates, including creating and running sensitivities and checking integrity.
  • Reviewing and supervising financial modelling tasks undertaken by junior staff, and completing more complex modelling tasks where required.
  • Staying up-to-date with sector developments, particularly in Mining & Metals finance, and current transactions and opportunities in the market.
  • Providing day-to-day transaction support, including structuring, pricing, preparing credit applications, and undertaking detailed financial analyses.
  • Respecting compliance practices and internal requirements in relation to advisory & lending transactions.
  • Managing internal processes related to arranging and advisory business.
  • Identifying marketing opportunities and preparing pitch material.
  • Establishing a network of contacts at key clients and prospective clients.
  • Supervising and developing junior team members.
Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A university degree in a relevant discipline (Finance, Engineering, Business, Commerce, Law) or a professional financial qualification.
  • Postgraduate qualifications considered favorably.
  • Experience in Mining & Metals finance and sector knowledge, or another structured finance environment.
  • 3-5 years relevant experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including strong financial modelling abilities.
  • Experience in generating pitch material that is clear, structured, and comprehensive.
  • Strong numerical skills and an advanced understanding of accounting concepts, financial statements, and cash flows.
