Job Title: Mental Health Support Specialist
">About the Role:
- We are seeking a dedicated individual to support families and carers in our community.
- You will have the opportunity to engage in a range of support activities that empower carers/supporters and family members to make meaningful change in their lives.
- As a Mental Health Support Specialist, you will work closely with a team of individuals with personal experience as carers to provide support to families, carers, kin, and supporters of individuals facing mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcoming new people to the center and providing an overview of the center's activities.
- Collecting details of carers/supporters who attend the centre (if they wish to provide them).
- Assisting speakers/activity facilitators with group activities.
- Providing a warm, inclusive, and welcoming approach.
- Attending groups as a lived experience/carer supporter/family member.
- Sharing experiences/strategies/knowledge during group sessions.
- Participating in group work training to develop skills for co-facilitation.
- Contribute ideas and reflections during group activities.
- Assisting with transport of carers/supporters to and from events.
What You Will Bring:
- Personal lived experience of caring for someone with mental health challenges or psychosocial distress and recovery.
- A valid Australian driver's license.
- A non-judgmental, supportive attitude and ability to empathise.
- Current or willingness to obtain a National Police Check, Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Orientation Module, NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Evidence of right to work/volunteer within Australia.
