Supporting individuals who are blind or have low vision to live independently is a rewarding career choice. We're seeking an Orientation & Mobility Specialist to join our team at Vision Australia.

About the Opportunity

This role involves working with clients of all ages, carers and families to assess their ability to travel safely and confidently within their community. You will also advise on and prescribe mobility aids, provide specialist services, and monitor the use of low vision aids as applicable.

  • Assess clients' ability to navigate through their environment safely and confidently.
  • Advise on and prescribe mobility aids to meet individual needs.
  • Provide specialist services, including training and intervention strategies for individuals and groups.

The ideal candidate will be part of a team committed to making a positive difference in the lives of others. If you have approved qualifications in O&M and experience in providing client support and O&M services, we encourage you to apply.

About You

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Approved qualifications in O&M as recognised by Orientation and Mobility Association Australasia (OMAA).
  • Experience in providing client support and O&M services in person and/or through other communication mediums.
  • Training and intervention strategies for individuals and groups.
