Role Summary:


As a Senior Work Health and Safety Officer at the Royal Australian Mint, you will play a vital role in ensuring a safe working environment for employees and visitors.


Key Responsibilities:



  1. Develop and implement effective work health and safety policies and procedures to mitigate risks and improve overall workplace safety.
  2. Support the Work Health and Safety Manager in the delivery of the Health and Safety Work Plan, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  3. Coordinate and participate in workplace inspections, investigations, and audits to identify and address potential hazards and areas for improvement.
  4. Provide guidance and advice to employees and managers on work health and safety matters, ensuring a culture of safety and well-being throughout the organization.
  5. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including the Health and Safety Committee, Health and Safety Representatives, and First Aid Officers, to promote a safe working environment.
  6. Conduct research and analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement, informing the development of strategic plans and initiatives to enhance workplace safety.
  7. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and standards, including the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and ISO 45001:2018.
  8. Develop and deliver health and safety training programs to educate employees on workplace hazards and safe work practices.
  9. Liaise with external stakeholders, including regulators, inspectors, and auditors, to ensure compliance and maintain a positive reputation for the organization.

Requirements:



  • Relevant qualifications and experience in work health and safety, occupational health and safety, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of work health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop strategic plans to improve workplace safety.
  • Highly organized and proactive, with a strong commitment to ensuring a safe working environment.
