
Police Training Officer

The Training Office improves the skills and knowledge of law, police duties, and management for all officers and staff.
You will deliver, assess, and evaluate firearms, operational skills, and tactics training. You will also contribute to education and training development for police and staff within your area of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver practical operational skills training, including firearms training, to officers and clients.
- Apply adult education methodologies relevant to operational skills training programs and internal education and training policies and processes.
- Provide leadership, supervision, and support to staff.
- Assess program participants and prepare reports based on these assessments.
- Plan, facilitate, and review the delivery and assessment of education and training programs.
- Liaise with and develop effective working relationships with members and other agencies and individuals.
- Contribute to continuous course curriculum improvement through research, evaluation, and development related to the training area.
- Maintain information management systems to monitor and record training and assessment.
- Continuously develop personal and instructional skills to ensure best practice effectiveness.
- An Open C class licence is required.
- Formal qualifications in Assessment and Training (e.g., Certificate IV or higher) are highly regarded.
- The successful applicant must complete relevant operational skills and tactics courses if not already in possession of equivalent qualifications.
- Applicants must undergo a baseline hearing assessment without artificial aids. A loss of 35 decibels on the ISO 389 scale (at 500, 1000, 2000Hz), no more than 40 decibels (at 3000Hz), and no more than 50 decibels (at 4000Hz on a pure tone audiometer) in either ear is normally unacceptable.
- Applicants must undergo a baseline blood level test prior to commencing firearms activities and may be required to undertake further testing as necessary.
Applications remain current for 12 months.
