Financial Operations Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Financial Operations Manager to join our team in a part-time capacity. As a key member of our commercial construction business, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our financial functions.

About The Role

This position offers full ownership of the accounts function, working closely with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with industry regulations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full AP/AR process, including trust accounts, subcontractor payments, and retentions. They will also oversee payroll, bank reconciliations, and credit card reconciliations, as well as provide financial support to project teams and other areas of the business.

Liaising with external accountants to ensure compliance and accurate reporting is also a critical aspect of this role. In addition, the Financial Operations Manager will identify opportunities to improve processes and support with ad hoc financial tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the full AP/AR process, including trust accounts, subcontractor payments, and retentions
  • Oversee payroll, bank reconciliations, and credit card reconciliations
  • Provide financial support to project teams and other areas of the business
  • Liaise with external accountants to ensure compliance and accurate reporting
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and support with ad hoc financial tasks
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in a hands-on finance or accounts role, ideally within construction or project-based industries
  • Confident managing the full accounts function independently
  • Familiarity with accounting/project software highly regarded
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent organisational and communication skills
