Job Opportunity: Northern Editor

We are seeking an exceptional journalist to lead our editorial team as a Northern Editor.

  • This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned reporter to oversee four regional publications, shaping the narrative of our State through compelling stories.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for gathering and writing original news stories for print and online publication. They will also develop positive relationships with key stakeholders, break news stories, and create engaging content that meets the needs of our readers.

  • Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Gathering and writing original news stories for publication in print and online.
  • Developing positive relationships with key people and organisations.
  • Breaking news stories and creating engaging content.
  • Steering the editorial direction of the Northern papers.
  • Interviewing and photographing subjects confidently and professionally.
  • Leading a small team of reporters.
  • Working cohesively as part of our senior regional leadership team.
  • Representing the organisation in a professional and courteous manner.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, applicants must have at least two years' experience as a reporter and possess strong writing and communication skills. They should also have an eye for detail, a head for news, and a passion for local reporting. Additionally, they should be able to work under high pressure, meet deadlines, and have a valid driver's license.
