Job Summary:
Solicitor PositionWe are seeking a highly skilled Solicitor to provide legal representation and advice to victims and witnesses of sexual assault, family violence, and other forms of trauma. The successful candidate will have expertise in applications for victim support and criminal law advocacy.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assist with victim support applications and provide advice and support for victims and witnesses around criminal charges and AVO applications.
- Represent defendants in the Local Court, particularly those with complex needs and varied case severity.
- Cover areas such as family law, care and protection, fines, civil, and administrative law.
- Deliver community legal education and update legal resources for young people and youth services.
- Contribute to policy and law reform based on expertise.
Requirements:
- At least 2 years' post-admission experience in a relevant field.
- Expertise in at least one of: applications for victims support, criminal law advocacy.
- Demonstrated capacity to develop further expertise in the other area.
- Demonstrated experience working with clients with high and complex needs, especially people with trauma history, mental health issues, and cognitive impairments.
- A trauma-informed approach; sensitivity toward clients with histories of abuse and neglect.
- NSW Working with Children Check clearance.
