Research Position Overview

This role is designed for a highly motivated individual to contribute towards research at a leading institution.


Main Responsibilities
  • The Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to develop their research expertise through defined projects relevant to their field of research.
  • They will conduct research and/or enable research teams to create scholarly output recognized by peers.
  • The role involves undertaking specific research project/s under the guidance of a research leader and contributing to the development of research activities.
  • Supporting the dissemination of research outcomes through appropriate channels and outlets.
  • Conducting discipline-appropriate research activities, e.g., surveys, literature reviews, data gathering, and/or recording of results using appropriate research methods.
  • Participating in and/or presenting at conferences and/or workshops relevant to the project as required.
  • Assisting with the supervision of research students in the research area where required.

Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • A PhD in Mining/Safety/Mechanical Engineering or related areas.
  • Proven commitment to staying up-to-date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated capability in mining equipment/product design, development, and testing, with experience in mechanical systems, industrial product development, or safety-related technologies.
  • A track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • An ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines, and build effective relationships.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Background in industrial design or product development is desirable, and at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students. Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Chinese and English are preferred, with experience in communicating with research partners in China.
