English Teacher Job Opportunity

">About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced English teacher to join our dynamic team at a reputable Catholic secondary school. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences across Years 9-11, fostering literacy, critical thinking, and a love of literature.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging and student-centered lessons that meet the needs of students in Years 9-11.
  • Support students in developing their literacy, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Foster a collaborative classroom environment that encourages creativity, discussion, and independent learning.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative and engaging curriculum resources.
  • Participate in pastoral care, extracurricular activities, and school events.
Requirements
  • A 3-year Bachelor's degree in Education or English.
  • 1 year PGCE or equivalent teacher training program to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Previous classroom experience preferred, ideally with exposure to secondary students across a range of year levels.
  • Accredited with, or eligible for accreditation from Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
  • Ability to legally work in Australia (visa requirements may apply).
  • Strong classroom management, excellent communication skills, and ability to deliver engaging, student-centered lessons.
  • Commitment to Catholic education and its mission.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to adjust to a new curriculum, culture, and school environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and support student learning in English.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and organisational skills.
