Job Title: Corporate Secretary

About the Role

The Corporate Secretary plays a pivotal role in supporting the achievement of the Board's objectives. This position is responsible for managing the Governance Unit, comprising two teams with approximately 15 positions.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Chair and the Board by managing and leading the Secretariat through the coordination of the Board's activities;
  • Managing corporate governance for WorkSafe Tasmania, including risk and business reporting and analysis, strategy, legal services, and business services and support;
  • Providing secretariat oversight of the Board and associated subcommittee activities;
  • Providing legal advice to and representation for the Board and WorkSafe Tasmania regarding all areas of law;
  • Liaising with the Solicitor-General and Crown Solicitor regarding formal requests for advice and legal services.

Key Qualifications

The successful candidate will be an admitted or eligible Barrister or Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania, with at least three years' experience in legal practice relevant to the duties of the position.
