The Coronary Care Unit at Mount Hospital requires a nurse with experience in delivering high-quality patient care.

We offer a challenging and dynamic environment where you can work closely with our team of experienced clinicians to provide care to patients undergoing complex cardiac procedures.

About Our Coronary Care Unit

We have a 31-bed unit that provides MET services for the hospital and adjoining medical suites, as well as a Priority Admission Service for chest pain and related respiratory conditions.

In this role, you will be supported by our dedicated Nurse Unit Manager and Staff Development Nurse, as well as a team of Clinical and Registered nurses with many years of experience in critical/coronary/cardiac nursing.

Our unit works closely with a 14-bed Level 3 Intensive Care Unit, completing over 700 open-heart procedures per year.

As the Clinical Nurse, your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering quality-nursing care by Assessing, Planning, Implementing, and evaluating individual patient care
  • Providing a standard of care according to the individual's level of experience and education, maintaining high-quality nursing care within a safe environment
  • Developing and utilizing strategies that encourage an atmosphere conducive to effective communication
  • Working in partnership with patients and families in decision-making regarding provision of care, promoting beneficial relationships

Selection Criteria:

  • Current Registration with AHPRA
  • Minimum of 5 years nursing experience, with majority of that being in critical/coronary care
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development
  • Post-graduate certificate in critical/coronary/cardiac nursing is essential to being successful; in lieu of qualifications, past experience will be considered along with willingness to enrol in a post-graduate program
