About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Legal and Assurance Associate to join our Reward, Performance and Accountability team at the Westpac Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a significant part in ensuring the effective management of risk and compliance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Legal, Business Controls and Monitoring team and the 2nd Line of Defence Risk team to identify and mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement processes and systems to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Conduct thorough analysis of complex legal and regulatory issues to provide informed recommendations.
- Provide expert advice on risk management and compliance practices to stakeholders.
- Work closely with colleagues to identify areas for improvement and develop effective solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in law, business, finance, or a related field.
- Relevant work experience in legal, compliance, or assurance roles, preferably in a corporate or financial services environment.
- Strong understanding of legal principles, regulatory requirements, and industry standards, with familiarity in risk management and assurance practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting documents and interacting with stakeholders.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in reviewing documents and ensuring compliance.
- Ability to analyze complex legal and regulatory issues and develop effective solutions.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or other relevant certifications can be beneficial.
- Proficiency in using legal research tools, compliance software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with colleagues, clients, and regulatory bodies.
- High ethical standards and integrity in handling sensitive and confidential information.
