Job Title:

Breaking News Journalist

We are seeking an experienced and driven journalist to join our team as a breaking news reporter. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to write authoritatively across diverse topics and pitch stories for Queensland and national audiences that contribute to subscription growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate unique content ideas for daily and weekly news cycles, and for Queensland and national audiences.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, balanced, timely, well-written, and well-researched reports for publication on our website and social platforms.
  • Maintain an extensive network of contacts and sources.
  • Demonstrate excellent news judgment and knowledge of current affairs.
  • Take ownership of stories/issues and follow up when appropriate.
  • Meet agreed audience benchmarks and deadlines.
